About the Role
As Senior Game Writer, you will deliver best-in-class storylines and dialogue for Love & Pies–and beyond. You’ll bring a deep understanding of episodic storytelling, a passion for showcasing equality and diversity through narrative, and thorough knowledge of the mobile gaming market.
As the creative vision-holder for the Love & Pies narrative, you’ll immerse yourself in its existing storylines and characters, becoming our L&P lore expert. You’ll drive the delivery of weekly game day and monthly event scripts, developing new storylines, characters and providing narrative input for features when needed. You’ll represent your discipline in leadership meetings and champion narrative to the rest of the studio.
You’ll collaborate closely with artists, designers, and developers, from early concept discussions through to the final delivery of content releases, to ensure that narrative elements are consistent with themselves, gameplay mechanics and visuals.
This is a hybrid role, based in our London studio. Weekly in-office days help us to facilitate close collaboration within the team.
Responsibilities
- Develop storylines, characters and conduct narrative design, using Miro, Final Draft, Google Sheets and other software
- Understand narrative design systems in place within the company and create story that effectively utilizes these systems
- Write polished, comedic, heartfelt dialogue for cutscenes, tutorials and other UI elements, maintaining and iterating on story tone, voice, personality, theme, and style
- Work with production to create and maintain the narrative roadmap
- Help represent narrative and its needs and priorities to the rest of Trailmix
- Manage output of internal and freelance writers, reviewing and providing constructive feedback on scripts, dialogue, and in-game texts
- Redraft and edit your own and other writers’ work
- Work with marketing on narrative-led assets
- Maintain narrative best practices and keep documentation maintained and up to date
- Develop and iterate on all development and team processes linked to narrative
- Conduct research to create authentic and immersive environments, storylines, and characters that resonate with players
- Stay fully up to date with the Love & Pies game world, characters and storylines
- Evaluate surveys and other player feedback and integrate them into story development
- Conduct competitor research and integrate best practices from leading mobile games
Requirements:
- Extensive experience writing for games, preferably spanning multiple stages of the game lifecycle
- Expertise in writing engaging dialogue and incorporating game mechanics into the narrative
- A proven ability to adapt style to the game’s existing themes and tone
- Passion for casual mobile games and a sound understanding of our player's needs and preferences
- Great communicator who thrives in cross-disciplinary collaborations
- Previous experience managing the output of external writers
Location
Trailmix is currently operating under a hybrid work model - we have 3 days a week (Monday, Thursday & Friday) in person at our brand new studio in Kings Cross with the remaining 2 days available to work from home.
